Savvy Minerals Makeup
Good Evening! Are you having a good summer? Mine has been fantastic!!
I wanted to share with you that Young Living launched cosmetics at Convention in June. I must admit that when I read about them, I was not at all excited, the reason being that I have not used powder cosmetics (like foundation) in the past.
I am part of a Facebook group that talks about all the products that Young Living has for beauty (by the way, if you want to join it, I can hook you up). After reading the following about cosmetics, I decided that I want to try the new ones. Here is what I learned:
There are three common toxic substances found in cosmetics:
PARABENS are found in deodorants, lotions, lipsticks, shampoos, scrubs, and more. Studies have shown that Parabens can mimic the activity of hormone estrogen and act as a potential hormone (endocrine) system disruptors in the body’s cells. Parabens have been found in breast cancer tumors and are possibly linked to breast cancer.
TALC is a mineral substance which is mainly magnesium, silicon, and oxygen used in products such as baby powder, shower and body products, eyeshadow, foundation, lipstick, deodorants and feminine hygiene products. It is a known carcinogen (can cause ovarian cancer) and may cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs.
BISMUTH is found in nail polish, blush, bronzers and eyeshadow. It can cause nausea, headache, diarrhea, itchiness, and pain. It is a relative of arsenic, and can cause infertility.
Three other substances found in cosmetics are:
LEAD commonly found in lipsticks, blushes, hair dye, shampoos. It is a known carcinogen (can cause cancer).
MERCURY is commonly found in mascara, skin whitening creams, and eye drops. This is a known toxin, can impair brain development, destroying cognition and neurological functions.
MINERAL OIL is commonly found in petroleum jelly and most cosmetics. It can cause organ system toxicity, possible negative hormonal effects including ovarian dysfunction, and possible damage to the immune system.
That is all pretty bad!!! The good thing is that Young Living does not use any of the above in its cosmetics. They are lead free, and instead of using lead, they use Mica for color. Micas are how you get color from earth elements without using synthetic dyes. It limits us on colors, but it eliminates coal tar, petrochemicals and synthetics.
Savvy Minerals products are developed with an unwavering standard of purity and quality, giving you a full variety of naturally derived products made without cheap fillers or synthetics. They are also made in the USA!
Ok, as you have figured out, I decided to order the cosmetics because I am trying to have a natural lifestyle, and they are better for me than the ones I’ve been using. To make sure that I could still get all the oils that I like to get, here is what I did:
I ordered the cosmetics on my Essential Rewards order, and used the PV points from Essential Rewards to get my oils, and only pay shipping and tax on them! So, this is a win-win thing! If you aren’t currently enrolled in the Essential Rewards program, no problem, you can still enroll and do what I did! I can promise you won’t regret it!
I was really surprised when I received my order, it was boxed beautifully! I really expected everything to be thrown in the box, but it was all in a special Savvy Minerals box (yes, I had more than one).
I applied all the makeup, and really liked how it felt on my skin, but Brian said, “you are so tan that makeup is not helping”. He proceeded to tell me that I looked white next to my tan. No problem!!! This kind of makeup can be changed to perfectly match.
